2 Outside the Gym Tips to Support Harder BJJ Training

    Video

    Description

What are some things you can do outside of the BJJ gym to support your BJJ training inside the gym?

This is a question that was sent to me recently by one of the viewers that’s wanting to take their training to the next level.

They said that their Brazilian Jiu-jitsu coach has recently been hinting at promoting them to Blue Belt which is exciting. But with the new promotion looming they want to turn it up a bit in regards to their training.

And because our friend knows that he can only be in the gym so much, he’s wondering what sort of things he can do outside of the gym.

My biggest advice to people trying to turn up their training inside the gym starts with two simple but often overlooked aspects.

    Rest

    and

    Diet

Rest because most people simply don’t get enough rest. They push push and push more. And eventually their body has all sorts of trouble because they never gave it time to heal up and recover.

Likewise. Many BJJ practitioners are averages men and women who tend to have average (which isn’t good) diets. And BJJ training is anything but average. It’s high performance, tough stuff.

So in order to accommodate the extra training in hopes of reaching Blue Belt and becoming better. I think it’s absolutely essential to start with making sure that rest and diet are looked at just as much as the actual training.

Like my old bodybuilder and powerlifter friends used to tell me when I was young. You grow in the kitchen and bedroom. Not the gym. The gym is to stimulate. The growth and rebuilding happens when your recovering.

BJJ, while not about making gains, is the same. You stimulate inside the gym. And to get the most from your body. Allowing proper rest and a good diet will help the body assimilate all the new information and build you back up.

So I hope this video is helpful to anyone in Brazilian Jiujitsu looking to take their training to another level. I think if you get these tips down. You can add the supplements, extra lifting, etc.

    Thanks!

    * Just a caveat. I know plenty of people who eat what we would consider a less than stellar diet and do fine. I totally get that. But most of them, at least the ones I know, are young people. The older you get, the more that stuff catches up with you. So the sooner you nail it down, the better off you are. In my opinion of course.
