That’s right, I do believe NYC is one of the fashion capitals of the world and the beauty is that NYC women don’t have just ONE style, they just seem to know how to put things together and come off looking trendy, chic, class and always ‘so New York’.
But when it comes to style, it’s almost laughable just how much each distinct neighborhood within Manhattan can be stereotyped by a certain ‘look’.
This week, I am going to the Upper East Side, so I need to look the part ‘in body and clothing’. The style: cooly refined and incredibly well-put- together. And it’s no surprise either — this area is somewhat of a fashion AND fitness mecca, with boutiques on Madison Avenue which range from Track&Field (literally high end active wear), to Barneys New York, and Valentino.
The hangouts are just as chic, with celebrities and socialites sweating it out at Equinox Fitness or Uptown Pilates and dining at Crown or grabbing a box of macarons at Ladurée. They may not be « Gossip Girls, » but the stylish and FIT set on the Upper East Side definitely know a thing or two about polished dressing and keeping those figures tight and toned…
But, we FSS-ers know, it’s not about the designer ensemble you have on, the secret is the body IN it and how you pull together and wear the look.
A typical spring time UES gal is wearing loads of skinny’s, TB flats, silk blouses and blazers. So let’s focus on slimming down that hip, bum and thigh region while also working the shoulders and arms, so when you take you reveal that sleeveless blouse, you’ll command a double-take from your newly svelte and toned arms.
