Edwin: So this is the bachata basic turn for the gentlemen. And one, two, three tap, five, six, seven tap; one, two, three tap, five, six, seven tap. So gentlemen, what you want to make sure is on the one-two-three, you’re going to the left; one, two, three. You’re going to tap and spot where you’re going and five, six, seven tap. Now let’s talk about the feet here. Your first step is going to be pointing this way. Now you’re going to be parallel here. Now you’re going to pick up your right foot and bring it all the way over before you tap. So gentlemen, there’s a tap before the turn and a tap after the turn.

Let’s try it one more time and one, two, three tap, five, six, seven tap. Now let’s demonstrate this with the ladies. So gentlemen, we’re going to start by first talking about the hands. As you’re going around you’re going to switch the hands, and one, two, three tap, five, six, seven tap. Now let’s talk about what’s happening with the hands. On my first number the five, I’m going to switch my hand to the left. On the next number six, I’m going to switch my hand to the right, and on the last number seven, I’m going to recollect the ladies hand and tap right here.

Let’s try that together; five, six, seven tap; and one, two, three tap, five, six, seven tap; one, two, three tap and five, six, seven tap.

Daniela: Ladies, you are doing a basic bachata step and make sure you always have your hands in front so the guy can find them.

Edwin: Let’s try that one more time and one, two, three tap, five, six, seven tap. Now let’s demonstrate this with music. So gentlemen, notice as I’m going around I’m looking at the ladies and once I see the ladies again, then we start to interact with each other. And make sure that you’re switching your hands, not putting pressure on the ladies hands. And one, two, three tap and five, six, seven tap. And that is how you do the bachata turn for the gentlemen.
