Nick Fit Tip 35 – What is maximum aerobic speed? Part 2

    Description

What’s up guys, Nick from Fit College. Want a tip, I’ve got one for you.
Continuing on with maximal aerobic speed. You know how to assess it, how can we train it? High intensity interval training research has demonstrated that we can improve our maximal aerobic speed if we’re either at or above 90% of max heart rate.

Now that’s difficult to achieve unless we’re using high intensity interval trainings, that we get those brief rest periods in there. Now there’s two very common ways that we can do this, very popular ones, the French method which requires 15 seconds of work with 15 seconds of rest and one is Tabata which a lot of you will be performing already; 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest.

If you’re running cycling or rowing, all you need to do is grab your maximal aerobic speed multiply that by the amount of time that you plan on working so either 15 or 20 seconds. That will give you your distance and you’re away laughing from there. So give it a go, see if you can improve over time and I’ll catch you next time with more tips.
