    Description

There’s a plethora of reasons why we’re heading to the theater to catch the highly anticipated film Southpaw, and I shamelessly admit that Jake Gyllenhaal’s physique is one of of them.

The actor transformed his body to play boxer Billy Hope for the film and spent over eight months working out with L.A.-based trainer Terry Claybon, two times a day, seven days a week, to chisel his way into boxing shape. Although his workout (like lifting a 350-pound tire, mind you) involved many parts of the body, his defined abs were the hardest to ignore. So we paid a visit to LB4LB Boxing Gym where Gyllenhaal sculpted every muscle, and Claybon took us through the actor’s Southpaw abdominals routine—which consisted of up to 2,000 crunches a day. Yes 2,000.
