Functional Training: Aerobic Conditioning with Free Weights Workout of the Week

This week’s WOW is a brilliant combination of some of our favourite training tools, put together in an excellent sequence to build strength and increase anaerobic capacity.

The training method allows you to maintain a high heart rate whilst pushing power and muscular endurance. The heavier load exercises are at the start, and the load decreases whilst the reps increase. The heavier load helps the initial increase in the heart rate and the final exercise is more dynamic in nature, utilising momentum. This helps to keep the speed high and, therefore, the heart rate up.

The reps go up with the speed as the weight goes down. 60 seconds rest between each round. Aim for 4 rounds.

The exercises are;
Barbell power clean
Dumbbell ground to overhead
Kettlebell overhead swing
